Other People's Art
November 25, 2015
RiverView Gallery features a goodly number of artists. But artists also purchase art. In Other People's Art we provide an opportunity for member artists to "show and tell" about what they have acquired from their fellow artists represented in the Gallery – as well as area artists outsied the Gallery if they wish.
Gallery Artist Marcia Gayle Snee takes home a Lyon Acorn
The LyonClay Studio acorn that Marcia Gayle Snee, who was in the Gallery to bring in some cool little "rattle birds" for the holidays, left with…. It's one of Paul Lyon's sagar-fired pieces. An acorn complete with cap and, later added of course, little polished wooden stem. Gayle jotted down the following note:
"I love the earthiness of the colors. The contrast of the two textures is wonderful and then when I picked it up it rattled – I just had to take it home."
The piece sits stably on a small woven stand and sits a tad over six inches tall.
Because of a lot of stuff going on this year, it will be the first in over two decades without a LyonClay Open Studio over the holidays. In lieu of that, much of what Paul has on stock is in the Gallery right now. So if you can't get through the season without your pottery fix, come in and look around. And check out Paul's striking new blue glazes – is this his "blue period"?
